Why AtWorkMassage?

The State of Tennessee requires that all individuals offering massage services for pay be licensed by the State. This licensing requires that the individual is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, and/or has at least 500 hours of formal education including anatomy, physiology, and ethics.

Even trained and licensed therapists often have little or no training in effective chair massage techniques, and even fewer have experience in working in the corporate environment. All of our practitioners are trained in the TouchPro chair massage technique. We then provide additional training and mentoring in corporate etiquette and sensitivity to the comfort and security of our clients.

AtWorkMassage was founded as Daybreak Health Systems in 1992 to provide chair massage and other stress intervention services to business in Knoxville, TN. In 2009 the name was changed to AtWorkMassage to better reflect the scope of our work. From the beginning, Steve Citty, Daybreak (and AtWorkMassage) founder, has been affiliated with David Palmer of the TouchPro Institute. Steve is a Senior TouchPro Certified Practitioner. He is also one of a handful of Assistant TouchPro Trainers in the country.

Professional chair training - The TouchPro Technique

The TouchPro technique which is the basis of AtWorkMassage chair massage is taught nationwide by certified trainers. Each trainer has a successful chair massage practice, and has undergone extensive training from TouchPro Institute. Each trainer teaches the technique in a uniform manner that the TouchPro Institute has found to be most effective for successful learning.

The technique training is usually done in an intensive 20-hour format and is supported with audio and videotapes. After the training, the student/practitioner is required to complete 100 sequences within 90 days before being evaluated by the trainer.

Upon successful completion of the “tutorial evaluation” and an additional eight-hour ethics and marketing course, certification is awarded.

What Distinguishes the TouchPro Technique?

The main distinguishing factor in AtWorkMassage chair massage is that the acupressure sequence is precisely choreographed in a form known as a kata. Characteristic of kata, each massage provided by every practitioner is done in a precise sequence using specific techniques. This allows the practitioners to address approximately 180 acupressure points in the brief 15 minutes that are required to complete the sequence, and delivers to the client the most effective relief of stress symptoms available in the time allotted.

The 1300-year-old Amma form is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine that has its roots around 3,000 years ago. Many Americans have experienced the efficacy of acupressure. AtWorkMassage Practitioners use thumbs, hands, arms, and elbows to address the acupressure points. The level of pressure is comfortable and directed by the client.

Liability Protection

Chair massage is extremely safe, but in our society, it is important for every company to consider liability risk when offering any service to its employees.

Every Daybreak practitioner carries a liability policy, as do most licensed therapists. Additionally, Daybreak carries a four million dollar business liability policy insuring our services at your site. If liability is of special concern to you, we are happy to add our clients to our policy as additional insured, if need be.
